 THE MISSION
The
mission of the Xcelling Youth Zone (XYZ) is to illuminate the minds of
young people, thereby causing them to excel beyond mediocrity into
successful adulthood.
PROGRAM SUMMARY
Improving
the lives of our youth through effective intervention is an opportunity
XYZ takes seriously. XYZ is a non-profit organization with a mission to
empower youth in South Fulton County and the surrounding areas to
succeed. XYZ provides a high quality school-year enrichment program and
summer camp with a focus on academics, arts, technology, sports and
life skills. Additionally, XYZ fosters preparing youth for life through
our mentoring program, scholarships and, in upcoming years, through
internships and entrepreneurial opportunities.
XYZ takes a
positive approach to providing services for our youth. In this
environment youth are not seen as problems to be solved, but as
resources to be developed. The five zone areas (Academic Zone, Art
Zone, Sports Zone, Technology Zone and Life Zone) are designed to
improve academic achievement, social and life skills.
Our youth
deserve an opportunity to discover their hidden talents and expand
their learning beyond the classroom during non-school hours. XYZ will
ensure that our youth and their families have access to a
well-structured, high quality program that will enable our youth to
become capable and effective members of a global society.
PROGRAM GOALS
XYZ’s
overall goal is to help South Fulton County youth avoid juvenile
delinquency and “AT-RISK” behaviors. The expected outcomes for youth
serviced are the following:
- Increased school attendance
- Increased desire for learning
- Increased respect for authority
- Decreased participation in risky behaviors such as drug abuse, gang participation, sexual activity
- Increased desire to develop their gifts/skills and to pursue opportunities to demonstrate those gifts
